CamTwist

CamTwist is a CoreMediaIO virtual camera plugin, not a standalone app — it integrates directly into macOS at the system level. The current version (3.4.3) is Intel-only and has not been updated since 2017. There is no native Apple Silicon build available. Since CoreMediaIO plugins are part of the system rather than separately installable from the vendor, updating or replacing CamTwist requires either obtaining a native version from Allocinit (the original vendor) or switching to an actively maintained alternative. Contact Allocinit directly to ask whether a native Apple Silicon build is planned; if the vendor is no longer developing CamTwist, you should begin evaluating alternatives like OBS (which has a built-in native virtual camera source on Apple Silicon), Restream, or other modern streaming tools that support virtual camera input natively. Since Apple is removing Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028), an Intel-only plugin will stop functioning on that release, so confirming a path forward with the vendor or migrating to a native alternative is important to plan before then.
