RawTherapee has shipped a native Apple Silicon (Universal Binary) build since version 5.10, released in February 2024. The current stable release, version 5.12 (May 2025), is built as a Universal Binary and runs natively on M-series Macs without Rosetta 2. If your installed copy is still reporting as Intel-only, download the latest macOS build directly from rawtherapee.com/downloads — the official installer for version 5.12 and later will automatically provide the native Universal Binary. Simply download the .zip file for your macOS version, extract it, and drag the RawTherapee application to your Applications folder. This will give you noticeably better performance and battery life compared to running the older Intel build under Rosetta.
