Notefile

Notefile has not been updated since version 2.7.2, released in 2015 — over a decade ago. There is no evidence of a native Apple Silicon build, and the vendor Junecloud does not appear to be actively maintaining the application anymore. The Intel-only build continues to run under Rosetta 2 today, but Apple is removing Rosetta in macOS 28 (September 2028), meaning Notefile will stop launching entirely at that point. You have roughly two years to migrate your notes to a replacement. Most of Notefile's core functionality — quick notes, cross-device sync, and iCloud integration — is now covered by Apple's built-in Notes app, which runs natively on all Macs and syncs seamlessly via iCloud. If you prefer a third-party option with more features, consider Obsidian, Bear, or Notion, all of which run natively on Apple Silicon and offer more powerful organization and syncing capabilities than Notefile did. Before switching, export your Notefile notes as plain text (File → Export) and save them; they will be readable in any text editor or modern note app.
