About This App

iPhoto Library Manager is a utility for macOS that extends the capabilities of Apple's iPhoto application. It lets users create, manage, merge, and switch between multiple iPhoto libraries, copy photos and metadata between collections, find and remove duplicate images, and repair corrupted libraries that will no longer launch. It was widely used by photographers and power users who needed more control over library organisation than iPhoto's built-in tools provided. The app is made by Fat Cat Software.

iPhoto Library Manager has been discontinued by its developer, Fat Cat Software. The last version was released several years ago and there is no native Apple Silicon build. The app will stop launching entirely when Apple removes Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028). Since iPhoto itself has been superseded by Apple's Photos app, iPhoto Library Manager is no longer relevant — Photos does not use the older iPhoto library format that this utility was designed to manage. If you have an old iPhoto library you need to migrate to Photos, Fat Cat Software (the same vendor) now offers PowerPhotos, a modern app that runs natively on Apple Silicon and can import iPhoto libraries into Photos while preserving structure such as Events as Albums. PowerPhotos is available for purchase from the Mac App Store.
