Flame Painter 4

The most recent update we found for Flame Painter 4 was version 4.1 released in August 2019, which is now almost seven years old. There is no evidence of a native Apple Silicon build, and Escape Motions has not published any release notes, blog posts, or public updates since 2019 that mention native support or recent development. Given the time elapsed and lack of recent vendor activity, the app appears to be effectively abandoned. Flame Painter 4 will continue to run under Rosetta 2 today, but Apple is removing Rosetta in macOS 28 (September 2028), so this app will no longer launch after that date. If you rely on Flame Painter, you should consider migrating your workflow to an actively maintained native alternative. Krita is a free, open-source digital painting app that runs natively on Apple Silicon, offers comparable brush systems, vector support, and PSD import/export. Procreate, while iPad-focused, has a growing reputation for digital art and now offers desktop versions on newer platforms. Clip Studio Paint is another actively developed option with strong brush engines and professional illustration features, available on Mac with native Apple Silicon support. Contact Escape Motions directly to confirm whether any future development is planned, but do not rely on Flame Painter 4 as your sole painting tool beyond September 2028.
