HFSUtilsGUI is a legacy utility with no active development and no confirmed native Apple Silicon build. The last documented version (linked from the E-Maculation forum) was originally created for much older macOS versions and has not been updated in many years. While the forum notes it "still works in macOS 10.15 Catalina", there is no evidence of a native arm64 build, and the project appears abandoned. The app will stop working entirely when Apple removes Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028). If you actively use HFSUtilsGUI for disk image creation, investigate whether the command-line HFS utilities it wraps are available through Homebrew or other package managers — these may have native Apple Silicon support and can be scripted to replace the GUI. Alternatively, contact the E-Maculation community (the original distribution point) to ask whether any successor tools exist for Apple Silicon Macs. Given that you have roughly 28 months until the deadline, reaching out now will give you time to identify and migrate to a working solution.
