Epson ColorBase2

Epson ColorBase2 is built on the Adobe AIR SDK framework, which currently does not run natively on Apple Silicon Macs. According to Epson's own support documentation, the app will not launch on Apple Silicon hardware and the Adobe AIR SDK developers are working to resolve the underlying compatibility issue. Since this is a framework-level problem rather than an app-specific issue, a native version of ColorBase2 cannot ship until Adobe updates the AIR SDK itself. Watch Epson's support pages for updates, but given that Adobe AIR is legacy technology with diminishing use, there is a meaningful risk that a native build may never arrive before Apple removes Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (late 2027). If you rely heavily on ColorBase2's colour profiling workflow, contact Epson directly now to ask whether they plan to modernise the app with a native build or recommend an alternative. In the interim, if you have access to an Intel-based Mac, you can continue using the current version under Rosetta 2, but plan your migration: consider whether other tools in your colour-management pipeline (Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, ColorLogic ZePrints) can replace ColorBase2's functionality before the 2027 deadline.
