TI-SmartView CE
TI-SmartView CE is an emulator application for the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, developed by Texas Instruments for educators and students. It runs the same operating system and displays the same interface as a physical calculator, allowing classroom use, demonstrations, projections, and homework verification without requiring students to have access to physical devices. Teachers use it for lesson delivery and assessment; students use it for practice and problem-solving. It is commonly included in school technology stacks and is particularly valuable in mathematics, physics and engineering education.
AI Recommendation
1 suggestionTI-SmartView CE is currently Intel-only and relies on Rosetta 2 to run on Apple Silicon Macs. Texas Instruments explicitly states in their system requirements that Rosetta 2 support will end with macOS 27, and TI software using Rosetta may not run on macOS 28 or newer — which ships in late 2027. This leaves approximately 18 months before the deadline. TI has not yet released a native Apple Silicon build of TI-SmartView CE, and there is no public indication of one in development. Contact Texas Instruments directly at education.ti.com/support to ask whether a native Apple Silicon version is planned for release before macOS 28, and if so, when. If you manage school devices, alert your IT department so they can plan ahead — institutions often face longer lead times for software updates. In the meantime, the app will continue to work under Rosetta 2 on macOS 14 and 15, but you will need an upgrade strategy well before late 2027.
