Inventor Fusion
Inventor Fusion was a discontinued 3D modeling application developed by Autodesk that combined direct modeling capabilities with parametric design features. It was designed as a hybrid CAD tool that allowed users to work with imported 3D models from various sources and modify them using both direct manipulation and traditional parametric modeling techniques. The software was particularly useful for engineers and designers who needed to edit and enhance existing 3D geometry that wasn't created in traditional parametric CAD systems. Inventor Fusion served as a bridge between different CAD workflows and was integrated into Autodesk's broader design ecosystem. However, Autodesk discontinued this product several years ago and incorporated many of its direct modeling features into other Autodesk products.

1 suggestionInventor Fusion has been discontinued by Autodesk and will not receive native Apple Silicon updates. The direct modeling capabilities that made Fusion unique have been integrated into Autodesk's current products, particularly Fusion 360, which offers native Apple Silicon support and combines parametric modeling, direct modeling, simulation, and manufacturing tools in a modern cloud-based platform. Fusion 360 provides the same hybrid modeling approach that Inventor Fusion offered, plus additional capabilities like collaboration tools, simulation, and CAM functionality. For users specifically needing direct modeling capabilities, Fusion 360's direct modeling tools are the spiritual successor to Inventor Fusion's functionality.
