RAR Extractor Max is an Intel-only application with no confirmed native Apple Silicon build. The developer has not shipped an updated version with Apple Silicon support, and there are no signs of active ongoing development. Since Apple is removing Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028), this app will stop working entirely on that release — giving you less than two years to transition. For most everyday RAR and ZIP extraction needs, use the Archive Utility bundled free with every macOS — it handles ZIP, 7-Zip and most multi-format archives without launching a separate app. For RAR files specifically, The Unarchiver (free, Mac App Store and direct download) is a mature, actively maintained alternative that runs natively on Apple Silicon and supports RAR alongside dozens of other formats. If you prefer a more feature-rich paid option with batch processing, consider MacZip or Keka, both of which are native Apple Silicon apps under active development.
