PowerMate

PowerMate is a legacy hardware device from Griffin Technology, which has long since ceased active development. The macOS configuration software has not received an official update since the mid-2010s, and Griffin's official macOS support ended at version 10.12 (Sierra, released in 2016). However, the USB PowerMate device itself and its configuration software do continue to function on recent macOS versions when running on Apple Silicon hardware — users have reported the device working on macOS Ventura and later on M-series Macs, including M1. Because the app is not actively maintained and has no formal native build, it is running under Rosetta 2 compatibility despite appearing to function. When Apple removes Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028), this app will cease to launch entirely. If you actively rely on your PowerMate knob for daily work, you have two options: check whether Griffin Technology has released an updated macOS version or native build in the interim (unlikely but possible), or begin planning to migrate those control tasks to alternative hardware or software solutions. If the device is optional to your workflow, you can continue using it under Rosetta until September 2028 without urgent action, but you should not expect any further support after that date.
