Day One Classic

Day One Classic is a personal journaling and notes app for macOS that lets users write and organize journal entries, with support for rich text formatting, photos, tags, location tagging, and search. First, contact the vendor to confirm whether a native build of Classic is in the works—though given the shift to their subscription model, a native Classic build is unlikely. Second, migrate to the current Day One app, which is actively maintained, runs natively on Apple Silicon, syncs across your Mac, iPhone and iPad, and preserves most of your existing journal data during import. If you strongly prefer to keep your data fully local without a subscription, consider Bear, Ulysses, or Obsidian—all are actively maintained native apps with journaling or long-form writing features and can import markdown or plain-text exports from Day One Classic.
