About This App

OTT is a free dynamic range compressor plugin for audio production, available in VST, AU, and AAX formats. It features multi-band compression with separate controls for low, mid and high frequencies, making it popular for mixing, mastering, and parallel compression workflows in DAWs like Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Studio One, FL Studio and others. Xfer Records developed OTT as a free tool, and it is widely used by home producers and professionals alike. A native Apple Silicon build has been confirmed running on Macs in the Rosetta Check community.

OTT has shipped a native Apple Silicon build (Universal Binary VST and AU) since version 1.31, released in early 2021. To upgrade from the Intel version: visit xferrecords.com/freeware and download the current OTT installer — it will serve both x86_64 and arm64 binaries, and the native build will load in any Apple Silicon-native DAW without requiring Rosetta 2. Before installing the new version, you may need to manually remove old OTT components to avoid conflicts: open Finder, press Command-Shift-G, navigate to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (and also ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components), and delete any OTT.component files you find. Restart your Mac, then run the installer. After installation, the native VST will load directly in your DAW, giving you noticeably better performance and lower latency compared to running the old Intel build under Rosetta. Note that some DAWs (notably Logic Pro on recent macOS versions) may default to loading the AU version instead of the VST — if you prefer VST, check your DAW's plugin preferences or explicitly load the VST format.
