About This App

SketchUp is a 3D modeling application used by architects, engineers, interior designers, woodworkers, and hobbyists to create, visualize and communicate 3D designs. It lets users build models of buildings, landscapes, furniture, mechanical parts and other objects using intuitive drawing tools, then export them to other formats, share them via the 3D Warehouse, or use them in documentation and presentations. SketchUp is available in a free version for personal use and a paid Pro subscription with additional tools and cloud collaboration features.

SketchUp has offered native Apple Silicon support since version 2022.0, released in early 2022. The current version of SketchUp (2024 and later) is fully optimized for Apple Silicon and runs natively on M-series Macs without Rosetta. If you are running an older version downloaded before 2022, update to the latest SketchUp version by visiting the vendor's website or opening SketchUp and checking Help > Check for Updates. The current build will be noticeably faster and more battery-efficient than running an older Intel-only version under Rosetta. Note that SketchUp 2023 and earlier versions are no longer supported; you will need to upgrade to at least SketchUp 2024 to stay on a current, supported release before Apple removes Rosetta in macOS 28 (September 2028).
