SoundTap VadHelper is a launchDaemon component of NCH Software's SoundTap streaming audio capture application. SoundTap is a utility that records any audio playing through a Mac—including streaming radio, VoIP calls, instant messaging conversations, and conference audio—and saves the output as MP3 or WAV files. The virtual audio driver mechanism that powers SoundTap requires a kernel-level daemon to function. A native Apple Silicon build has been confirmed running on Macs in the Rosetta Check community.

1 suggestionSoundTap VadHelper is a system component of the SoundTap application and cannot be updated independently—updating the parent SoundTap application will update the helper daemon to its native build. Visit the NCH Software official download page at nch.com.au/soundtap and download the current SoundTap installer for macOS; it will detect your Mac's architecture and provide the native build. Alternatively, if you originally installed SoundTap via the Mac App Store, open the App Store and check for updates to SoundTap—the App Store will serve the native version on Apple Silicon Macs. After the new installer runs, the VadHelper daemon will be replaced with the native build automatically during the install process.
