Praat

Praat is a free, open-source computer program for analysing, synthesising and manipulating speech and other sounds. It is widely used by linguists, phoneticians, speech pathologists and researchers to extract and visualise acoustic features like formants, pitch, spectrograms and voice quality from audio recordings. Praat can also generate synthetic speech, manipulate existing recordings, and create high-quality visualisations suitable for publications and presentations. The program includes both a graphical interface for interactive analysis and a scripting language for batch processing and automation, making it a standard tool in academic speech science.
