EasyABC
EasyABC is an open-source music notation editor that allows musicians to create, edit, view, and play music written in the ABC notation language, a simple text-based format for representing melodies. The program also enables conversion of ABC notation to other formats, including sheet music and MIDI playback. Originally written in Python and WxPython, EasyABC is used by folk musicians, traditional music enthusiasts, and anyone working with ABC-notated music who wants a lightweight, cross-platform tool. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux and is freely available under the GNU Public License.

1 suggestionEasyABC is an actively maintained open-source project with recent releases confirmed on SourceForge and GitHub. The latest version (1.3.8.7) is reported to work on current macOS versions including Sonoma and Sequoia. However, there is no confirmation in the available search results that a native Apple Silicon build has been released. If you are running EasyABC under Rosetta on an M-series Mac, contact the project on GitHub or SourceForge to ask whether a native arm64 build is planned, or check the project's issue tracker for any open discussion about Apple Silicon support. In the meantime, the current build should continue to function under Rosetta 2, though performance may be suboptimal.
