About This App

InstallHelper is a launchd daemon component bundled inside VMware Fusion that facilitates the installation and initialization of VMware Fusion's system-level drivers and hypervisor components on macOS. It runs in the background to set up the virtual machine infrastructure that allows Fusion to run guest operating systems on the host Mac. Like all launchd helpers, it is not a standalone application and cannot be updated independently.

InstallHelper is a background system component of VMware Fusion, not a standalone app, so it cannot be updated separately. To get a native Apple Silicon version, you need to update VMware Fusion itself. VMware Fusion 13.0 and later ship as native Apple Silicon builds, so if you are running an older version, download the latest version of VMware Fusion directly from Broadcom's support portal (VMware was acquired by Broadcom) and reinstall. The same installer works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and will automatically place the native build on M-series hardware. Once VMware Fusion updates to the native version, InstallHelper will be updated along with it and will no longer run under Rosetta emulation.
