Nikon Transfer 2

Nikon Transfer 2 does not have a native Apple Silicon build. According to Nikon's official macOS compatibility statement, the app is Intel-only and Nikon has made no announcement of a native version. Nikon explicitly states they do not plan to provide native Apple Silicon support for Transfer 2 or most of their legacy software utilities. Since the app runs only under Rosetta 2 and Apple is removing Rosetta in macOS 28 (September 2028), Transfer 2 will stop working entirely on that release. The most straightforward alternative is to use the Finder directly: connect your Nikon camera via USB or insert the memory card into a card reader, then drag and drop your image files into a folder on your Mac — this accomplishes the same transfer without needing specialist software. If you prefer a dedicated photo import interface, Nikon's ViewNX-i (which Nikon recommends as a workaround when Transfer 2 has issues) may be worth exploring, though you should verify it ships as a native build before relying on it beyond September 2028. Other Mac photo import tools like Image Capture (built into macOS) and third-party apps such as Photo Booth Importer are also native options, though none replicate Transfer 2's interface exactly.
