TurboTax does not currently ship a native Apple Silicon build for macOS. Despite more than five years of Apple Silicon Macs being in the market, Intuit continues to distribute only the Intel-compiled version, which runs under Rosetta 2 emulation on M-series Macs. Multiple recent support forum posts from 2025–2026 confirm that the latest versions (2024 and 2025) report as "Intel" in System Report and require Rosetta 2. Intuit has been publicly silent on Apple Silicon native support plans. This is a critical problem because Apple is removing Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028), at which point the Intel-only TurboTax binaries will stop launching entirely. You have approximately two years to prepare. Monitor Intuit's official TurboTax website and system requirements page for any announcement of native Apple Silicon support, but do not rely on one coming. As a hedge, consider adopting a tax-preparation service or software that already ships natively on Apple Silicon — options include IRS Free File Fillable Forms (free, web-based), TaxAct (native Mac version available), or H&R Block (online filing available). You may also be able to run the Windows version of TurboTax using Parallels Desktop or a similar virtualization tool if you need the exact same interface, though this adds complexity and cost. If you must use TurboTax Desktop and refuse Rosetta, contact Intuit directly now and request a timeline for native Apple Silicon support before September 2028.
