TurboTax on macOS currently runs only as an Intel-compiled binary under Rosetta 2 emulation — Intuit has not shipped a native Apple Silicon build despite five years having passed since Apple Silicon Macs first shipped, and despite repeated user requests across their support forums. The app does function today on M-series Macs, but that depends entirely on Rosetta 2, which Apple is removing in macOS 28 (September 2028). Once Rosetta 2 is gone, this Intel-only TurboTax build simply will not launch on any Mac running macOS 28 or later. Given that today is May 2026, you have approximately 27 months before that deadline. Because TurboTax remains under active development — Intuit ships a new year's edition annually and releases updates within each tax year — and because Intuit has been completely silent on Apple Silicon support despite sustained community pressure, your best option is to contact Intuit directly and express your expectation that a native Apple Silicon build will ship well before September 2028. You can also watch the TurboTax system requirements page and Intuit's support forums for any announcement. If Intuit does not deliver a native build before the deadline, your fallback is to use TurboTax via the web at TurboTax.com (which you access through any browser and requires no native build), or to explore alternatives such as Quicken (which shipped Apple Silicon support years ago) or TaxAct if they offer native macOS versions. Filing via the web is not ideal, but it will remain functional after Rosetta is gone.
