ToonIt is an FxPlug plugin that ships as part of Red Giant Universe and runs only within Final Cut Pro. To update it, you need to update Red Giant Universe itself using Red Giant's installer, not through the Mac App Store or Final Cut Pro's built-in plugin manager. Visit the Red Giant website, download and run the latest Universe installer for your Mac architecture, and it will replace the previous version of all Universe plugins including ToonIt. If you are still running an Intel-only build of Universe under Rosetta, the latest installer will provide you with a native Apple Silicon build that runs much more efficiently within Final Cut Pro. Verify that your copy of Final Cut Pro itself is on a recent native build (Final Cut Pro 10.7 or later) to ensure full compatibility with the updated plugin. Red Giant typically updates Universe annually, so check their site periodically to stay current — this is especially important as Apple removes Rosetta 2 support in macOS 28 (September 2028).
