About This App

FutzBox is a VST3 distortion and noise-generator plugin for creating low-fidelity and degraded versions of audio signals. It is widely used in post-production to simulate radio, telephone, television and other lo-fi sources, and by music producers for creative distortion effects. The plugin includes a library of Synthetic Impulse Models (SIMs) for realistic device emulation, plus configurable filtering, EQ, distortion modes, a noise generator with ducking, and gating. FutzBox is available in Native and HD variants from McDSP and supports all major DAWs including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Nuendo, Ableton Live, Reaper and Studio One via AU and VST3 formats. A native Apple Silicon build has been confirmed running on Macs in the Rosetta Check community.

FutzBox ships with native Apple Silicon support in its version 7 releases — McDSP has confirmed all v7 plugins are optimized for both Apple silicon and the latest Intel processors. To upgrade from the Intel-only version under Rosetta, install the latest version of FutzBox using McDSP's official installer from mcdsp.com. The installer automatically detects your Mac architecture and serves the correct native build. After installation, your iLok authorizations (which McDSP plugins require for licensing) and DAW plugin cache will handle the swap transparently — simply launch your DAW and the native VST3 version will load. If you purchased FutzBox through an authorized dealer like Sweetwater or Plugin Boutique, you can also re-download your license code and use the McDSP installer directly.
