About This App

ControllerMate Helper is a system launch agent component for ControllerMate, Orderedbytes' gamepad and controller configuration utility for macOS. The parent app ControllerMate lets users map custom key bindings, axis assignments, and macros to any connected USB game controller, joystick, or input device. ControllerMate Helper runs as a background service to manage controller input events and deliver those mappings to applications in real time. The helper is not a standalone app and is installed and updated only as part of the parent ControllerMate application.

ControllerMate Helper is a background launch agent that ships as part of the ControllerMate parent application — it cannot be updated separately. To ensure you have a native Apple Silicon build of the helper, you must update the parent ControllerMate application itself. Visit the Orderedbytes website or check inside ControllerMate for an update to the latest version. Apple is removing Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028), so if ControllerMate has not yet shipped a native Apple Silicon build, confirm with the vendor that one is planned before that deadline, as an Intel-only version will stop working on that release.
