Authy Desktop

Authy Desktop was discontinued by Twilio in March 2024 and has no native Apple Silicon build. The Intel-only version you have will stop working entirely when Apple removes Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (September 2028). Twilio has stated it is sunsetting the desktop apps across all platforms in favour of its mobile applications. If you own a Mac with Apple Silicon, your best option is to download the Authy iOS app and run it on your Mac via the App Store or by downloading it from the Authy website—the iOS version runs natively on Apple Silicon and gives you access to your backed-up tokens. If you do not have Apple Silicon, or prefer a dedicated Mac app from another vendor, switch to a native alternative. Recommended authenticator apps with confirmed native Apple Silicon support include Microsoft Authenticator (free, integrates with Microsoft 365 accounts), 1Password (paid subscription, includes password management), Bitwarden (free or paid, open-source compatible), or Coduo (free, Mac App Store). Be aware that Authy does not offer an export function, so you will need to disable and re-enable two-factor authentication on each affected account and re-add them to your new authenticator app—do not delete your tokens from Authy until your migration is complete. If you have Authy backup enabled, temporarily download the mobile version to retrieve and migrate your tokens.
