Smack

Smack is an AAX plugin for Pro Tools, not a standalone application, so it is updated through Avid's update mechanism rather than as a separate download. To get the native Apple Silicon build of Smack, you must first ensure your Pro Tools installation itself is on a current native version — Pro Tools 2023.6 or later runs natively on Apple Silicon and includes native AAX plugin support. Once Pro Tools is updated, launch the Avid Application Manager (AAM), which handles all Avid plugin installation and updates. Use AAM to install or update Smack to the latest build; AAM will automatically serve the native version on M-series Macs. If you prefer, you can also check for updates directly inside Pro Tools via Help → Check for Updates. After Pro Tools and Smack are both on native builds, you will see improved performance, lower CPU usage and better battery life during mixing and audio processing sessions compared to running under Rosetta.
