SynthCell

SynthCell is an AAX plugin that runs inside Avid Pro Tools, not a standalone application. To use it natively on Apple Silicon, both Pro Tools itself and the plugin must be on native builds. Pro Tools shipped a native Apple Silicon build starting from version 2023.6 (released in mid-2023), so if you are running that version or newer, Pro Tools is already running natively. However, the AAX plugin ecosystem has been transitioning more slowly than the host — you will need to verify that SynthCell is compatible with the native Pro Tools build you have installed. Check Avid's official plugin compatibility list or contact Avid support to confirm SynthCell has a native ARM64 build available. If the plugin you have is still Intel-only, you can update it through the Avid Application Manager (the standard update channel for all Avid products and plugins). Since Apple is removing Rosetta 2 in macOS 28 (late 2027), ensure both your Pro Tools version and all AAX plugins are updated to native builds well before that deadline to guarantee continued operation.
