R2

R2 is an AAX plugin component that runs inside Avid Pro Tools, not a standalone application. To migrate it to Apple Silicon, you must update Pro Tools itself to a native build first. Avid shipped native Apple Silicon support in Pro Tools 2023.6 and later — ensure you are running the current native Pro Tools build by opening Pro Tools, going to Help → Check for Updates, and installing the latest version through Avid's Application Manager. Once Pro Tools is running natively on Apple Silicon, check whether iZotope has released a native AAX build of R2. If iZotope has published a native version, you will need to install it through iZotope's own installer or plugin manager (typically available from their website or account portal). If a native R2 build is not yet available from iZotope, the Intel version will continue to run under Rosetta 2 inside a native Pro Tools instance until Apple removes Rosetta in macOS 28 (September 2028) — at that point, an Intel-only R2 will stop launching altogether even if Pro Tools itself is native. Contact iZotope directly to confirm the native AAX R2 build's availability and update schedule so you can plan ahead before that deadline.
